Srinagar Kashmir, 01 June, 2014: Calling upon the people to use mosques not only as a place for collective praying but also as a center of social and reformative activity for social reform in our society, Ameer Mutahida Majlis Ulema Mirwaiz Umar Farooq sunday urged the people to come forward and lend a helping hand to fight social evils. Mirwaiz stated that immorality; corruption, extravagance, and futile rituals were currently plaguing the kashmir society and it is the duty of every.
In connection with the social reforms campaign, Mirwaiz addressed a gathering of local imams and respected citizens of the Chattbal at Masjid Sheikh Yaqoob sahib. Mirwaiz stated that the young generation was the future of Kashmir and drug addiction is one of the biggest challenges they are facing right now.Mirwiaz said that parents in particular have to impart rich values and acquaint their children with Islamic teachings so that the young generation is shown the right path which would ultimately lead to progress and prosperity of Kashmir. He said that people can’t remain mute spectators to growing social evils around them, He said that we have to work both individually and collectively to save not only our families but the society at large from the grave issue of moral and social degradation. Mirwaiz stated that social ills like immorality, drug and Liquor addiction have sadly shown a rising trend. He said social evils in Kashmir can only be countered by protecting our Islamic identity. He appealed conscious Kashmiris, Ulemas, and respectable, intellectuals to take measures to preserve the Islamic values and inculcate those teachings among the people to preserve the true Islamic spirit. He said that a healthy society is guarantee of bright future for the people of Kashmir.

He said the time has come that youth should be shown the right path which would ultimately lead to progress and prosperity of Kashmir. In connection with his ongoing antidrug addiction and social reform drive, Head of Muthida Majlis Ulema and President Anjuman Nusratul Islam Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Expressed deep anguish over the increasing drug menace among the youth of Kashmir and sought cooperation from all people and agencies associated with the trade of sale and distribution of medicine and drugs in Kashmir. Mirwaiz was addressing a gathering of people engaged in the trade of medicine as well as the members of different chemist and druggist Associations. He stressed that in order to curb drug addiction it was necessary to curtail the easy access to drugs and medicines used for this purpose and completely do away with the practise of selling drugs without prescription. Addressing the gathering, Mirwaiz said that our young generation was getting entrapped in drug addiction, drinking, gambling and other immoral activities and it was the duty of all sections of the society including persons associated with drug trade to understand their responsibility and duty towards the society. Concluding the meeting, Mirwaiz said that the campaign against the social evil will continue and with the help and active cooperation of all sections of society will inshaAllah yield results.

An impressive Seerat Programme on the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was today held at historical Educational Institute Nusrat-ul-Islam Higher Secondary School Srinagar. The function was chaired by chairman and the president of Anjuman Nasratul Islam Mirwaiz Dr Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq. The function was attended by dozens of students belonging to various Educational Institutes of the Valley. Speeaking on the occasion, Mirwaiz Dr. Molvi Umar Farooq said the path shown to the Muslim Ummah by our beloved Nabi (SAW) is the only guarantee for the prosperity and progress of mankind. While terming Islam as the complete way of life, Mirwaiz stated that along with other responsibilities in Islam, a Muslim should find all the solutions within the Islamic jurisprudence rather than looking in to the others religion. Mirwaiz said despite a Muslim majority and a land of Saints and Awliyas, a large number of youth of the Valley nowadays unfortunately have got entangled in the menace of Drugs and waywardness.Mirwaiz said the need of the hour is to get united to fight immoralities within our society. Appealing parents for their support towards the anti-immorality drive Mirwaiz said parents should also come forward and should keep an eye on their wards.
